Kim Gleason, PhD, Conceive NJ Embryologist

Kim Gleason, PhD, is Conceive NJ’s IVF laboratory supervisor and senior embryologist. Working with Lab Director Dr. Byan Kloos, Dr. Gleason is responsible for all aspects of the embryology laboratory including benchwork, data entry and assistance with local, state, and federal law and regulation compliances.

She brings extensive experience in fertility medicine laboratory supervision and expertise in embryology, andrology and endocrinology to Conceive NJ.

IVF lab special interests

In addition to her focus on embryology, her special interests in the IVF lab include embryo biopsy and egg freezing. She also has special training in reproductive physiology, microbiology and micromanipulation (intracytoplasmic sperm injection and assisted hatching utilized during in vitro fertilization).

Why Dr. Kim Gleason chose a career in assisted reproductive medicine

She was drawn to the field of assisted reproductive medicine because it is exciting, cutting-edge, and continuously advancing in terms of laboratory equipment and technology. Dr. Gleason gets a sense of pride and fulfillment from playing a role in helping patients grow healthy families.

She also appreciates that communication and team spirit are essential to success in both the IVF lab and throughout the Conceive NJ clinic.

Dr. Gleason’s experience and education

Dr. Gleason has served as a High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) at fertility clinics in New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition, she has served as the program coordinator at the Equine ICSI Laboratory Clinical Program Coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania, a role that relates to her personal interest and work in horse training and alpaca breeding (see more below).

In her IVF laboratory positions, she has performed an extensive number of IVF cycles, embryo biopsies and other essential laboratory services helping patients achieve parenthood. Dr. Gleason has been instrumental in helping clinics achieve high-quality certifications and accreditations. She has played important roles in staff development and in the design of state-of-the art labs.

She has co-authored several research papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals. These focus on optimizing laboratory culture conditions and practices to increase a patient’s chances of achieving a pregnancy.

  • B.S. in microbiology: Auburn University.
  • M.S. in microbiology: Auburn University.
  • PhD in reproductive physiology: University of Arkansas.

Personal life and endeavors of Dr. Kim Gleason

She grew up in rural New Jersey and currently owns the Dancing Horse Farm where they raise and train Lipizzan horses. The Farm harvests and processes fiber from a large alpaca herd. They also conduct breeding services with their alpacas, a parallel activity to her human reproductive work that gives Dr. Gleason much enjoyment.

In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, interacting with their alpacas and hiking with her husband.
