Hysterosalpingography (HSG)

What is hysterosalpingography (HSG) fertility testing?

The HSG has been a cornerstone of the fertility evaluation for many decades. It has the advantage of assessing the uterus and fallopian tubes with one simple, safe, and rapid test. It provides near instant feedback regarding the status of the important female reproductive organs.

It can diagnose blocked tubes or scarring inside the uterine cavity.

Hysterosalpingography (HSG) fertility testing process

After placing a thin, soft, and flexible catheter into the cervix, a dye flows into the uterus and tubes and a series of images are obtained. The examination takes just a few minutes.

Following the procedure, the physician reviews the images, describes the findings to the patient and answers all questions.
