Fertility testing provides a baseline measure of reproductive health
Whether you’re planning to start a family soon or have been trying to conceive for months without success, fertility testing is an important first step. Understanding your reproductive health is crucial for family planning. Fertility tests provide valuable insight into both partners’ fertility status, so that you can make informed decisions about growing your family.
At Conceive NJ, comprehensive evaluation of both male and female partners’ fertility potential is one of the first steps when you come to our New Jersey fertility doctor for help to conceive. This series of tests and examinations helps us assess the quality and quantity of eggs and sperm, as well as the overall health of reproductive organs. We also offer comprehensive and industry leading genetic testings for men and women to reduce the risk of passing on inherited genetic conditions to your children.
Female fertility testing
For women, fertility testing typically involves blood tests. Our advanced, in-house hormone testing capabilities provide quick results, providing extensive information about your levels of specific hormones that play a role in ovulation and pregnancy.
- Follicle-stimulating hormone, or FSH
- Luteinizing hormone, or LH
- Estradiol
- Progesterone
- AMH (anti-Mullerian hormone)
- TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone)
- Prolactin
Your blood test results tell our New Jersey fertility doctor a lot about your ovarian reserve and the presence of any hormonal imbalances.
All female patients will also have a painless 3-D ultrasound exam, using the latest imaging technology. These ultrasound scans can evaluate the structure of the uterus and spot any abnormalities that could affect embryo implantation and development. Because our ultrasound scans are assisted with artificial intelligence, patients experience more accurate results with less scanning time.
An ultrasound test can also determine exactly how many eggs are maturing in your ovaries during a given menstrual cycle, providing important insight into your remaining egg supply.
Depending on your situation, we may also order other tests, such as a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which can identify any blockages in the fallopian tubes that may prevent conception. We also offer in-house hysteroscopy using gentle instrumentation that allows the patient to avoid the operating room and avoid time off work. If endometriosis or other structural concerns are suspected, a laparoscopic procedure may also be recommended.
Male fertility tests
If you are trying to conceive with a partner, he’ll play an important role in your overall fertility care. For hopeful fathers, semen analysis is a must. Roughly half of couples who struggle to conceive find that a male factor plays at least some role.
Our state-of-the-art IVF lab performs semen analysis assisted by AI and high-resolution HD images, producing ultra-rapid results. Semen analysis gives us a detailed understanding of several parameters of sperm quality.
- Volume of semen
- Sperm count
- Motility, or movement
- Morphology, or shape
- pH
- Liquefaction, or how quickly semen liquefies
We also will likely order blood tests to evaluate the man’s hormone levels.
